Visit from HSE Russia
Date: 22 November 2024 | Time: 12.30 pm. To 04.30 pm.
On November 22 at 12 PM, a meeting was held at Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT) with delegates from HSE University, Russia, attended by our Deputy Director, Dr. Warke, and Registrar, Dr. M.S. Shejul. The HSE team presented an overview of their university, ranked 410th globally in the QS rankings, and discussed opportunities for Indian students in Russia. The meeting also focused on potential collaborations in student exchanges and research. Following the discussion, the delegates toured the Bajaj Lab at SIT, where they were impressed by the advanced facilities. The meeting marked a significant step toward strengthening academic ties and exploring future partnerships between SIT and HSE University. Thanks to Ms Manasi Joshi and Bhakti Padhye from Symbiosis Centre for International Education for facilitating the same.

We had the privilege of hosting Dr. Abhijit Date, Professor at RMIT University, Australia, at the Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT), Pune, for an engaging and productive discussion on expanding collaborative research initiatives.
Dr. Date’s visit reflects SIT’s unwavering commitment to fostering international academic partnerships and promoting interdisciplinary research. Notably, Dr. Date serves as the co-supervisor for Mrs. Sulakshana Deshmukh, a research scholar at Symbiosis International (Deemed University), who is conducting pioneering research in the advanced field of membrane distillation under the guidance of Dr. Anindita Roy and the co-guidance of Dr. Mugdha Kshirsagar.
The discussions explored potential avenues for joint research projects, knowledge sharing, and the development.
Visit from Deakin South Asia

Ms. Priyanka Singh, Executive Director - Deakin South Asia, and Ms. Irfa Javed, Manager – Research Partnerships (South Asia), visited Symbiosis Institute of Technology to engage in discussions about the upcoming Dual Degree program in Computer Science and Civil Engineering. The meeting was attended by our Deputy Director, Dr. Warke, Dr Sayali Sandbhor, Head of Civil Engineering, Dr Deeplai Vora, Head Computer Science, Dr Sonali Kothari and Dr Anindita Roy, Head Internationalization. This initiative aims to strengthen academic collaboration and provide students with global opportunities in their respective fields. Visit was facilitated by Dr Anupama Kotur, Symbiosis Centre for International Education.

The Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT) was honored to host Dr. Keshav Sood from Deakin University, Australia. This visit presented a valuable opportunity for both our faculty and students to engage with an expert in the rapidly advancing field of cybersecurity. Dr. Sood conducted an enlightening session, offering deep insights into the latest trends, challenges, and solutions within the cybersecurity landscape.
Our faculty members engaged in productive discussions on key topics, while students benefitted from an intellectually stimulating session that encouraged fresh ideas and perspectives. The visit concluded with a tour of the Bajaj Centre of Excellence, where SIT had the opportunity to present some of the cutting-edge work being conducted in the field.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Sood for sharing his expertise and to everyone who contributed to making this event a resounding success.

The Internationalization Cell at Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT) hosted Kanagaratnam Baskaran and a team from Deakin University. This collaboration promises exciting opportunities for Dual Degree programs in the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology Engineering, as well as the Department of Civil Engineering at SIT Pune. Visit of Temple University, Philadelphia, USA

We were delighted to welcome Dr. Anita Singh., Chair of BioEngineering at Temple University, Philadelphia, USA, to Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Pune. It was inspiring to see Dr. Anita, who hails from the small town of Morbi near Rajkot, Gujarat, now leading a department at a prestigious university in the USA. Dr. Anita is conducting cutting-edge research in BioEngineering, and our discussions focused on potential research collaborations, student exchange programs, faculty exchanges, and the unique 4+1 program. There is significant synergy with the Department of AI and Machine Learning at SIT Pune, and numerous collaborations are underway.
Visit of Aston University (UK)
Dr Kate Sugden and Dr Sylvia Wong from Aston University's College of Engineering and Physical Sciences visited Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT) from 6th to 7th June, 2024. Over the course of two days, the visit facilitated productive discussions, insightful workshops, and comprehensive reviews, setting the stage for future collaborations and innovation. This exchange of ideas and expertise underscores our commitment to academic excellence and global partnerships.
MoU with National Chung-Hsing University (NCHU), Taiwan.
Symbiosis International University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Chung Hsing University (NCHU), Taiwan, on 3rd April 2024 formalizing our commitment to fostering collaboration in education and research. This partnership paves the way for student and faculty exchange programs as well as innovative research collaborations between our institutions. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Anita Patankar, Dr. M. S. Shejul, Ketan Kotecha, Dr. Kai-Jung Chi, Dr. Yin-Tsung Hwang, Inger Tsai, Dr. Arundhati Warke, and Dr. Nitin Khedkar for their shared vision of creating a brighter future through education and research. Visit of Ms. Aditi Lele, Education USA Adviser at United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF).
The Statement of Purpose (SOP) writing session by Dr. Aditi Lele of Education USA was conducted in SIT,Pune on 28th February 2024 which was a valuable opportunity for aspiring students to gain insights and guidance on crafting effective and compelling SOPs for their college or university applications. The session typically provided participants with essential tips, strategies, and examples to help them articulate their academic and career goals, highlight their strengths and experiences, and convey their passion for their chosen field of study. The session was interactive and would be of help for attendees to enhance their writing skills and learn how to tailor their SOPs to specific institutions and programs. Dr. Lele’s SOP writing session can play a crucial role in empowering students to present themselves authentically and competitively in the highly selective admissions process.
Visit of Mr Sachin Jangam, National University of Singapore
Dr. Sachin Vinayak Jangam and Ms Sweny Rokani visited SIT,Pune on 26th February 2024 and provided valuable insights into their competitive international student engagement program. We look forward to collaborating with the National University of Singapore in the near future.
Visit of Ms. Samreen Khan, Student Recruitment Manager (India) at UK India Business Council for Imperial College London.
Securing admission to a top-ranked university for a master's program is a dream for every undergraduate engineering student. It was a pleasure to have Dr. Elena Dieckmann and Samreen K. in SIT on 22nd February 2024 and share exciting insights on projects and opportunities at the Dyson School of Design Engineering, Imperial College London. We extend our gratitude to Dr.Ketan Kotecha, Dr.Arundhati Warke, and the entire Internationalization team of SIT for their instrumental role in organizing the session. Visit of Dr. Umesh R. Hodeghatta ,AI- Data Science Advisor & Professor at Northeastern University, USA
The Department of CSE is organizing an International Expert Session for faculty on "AI in Security" on 1st February, 2024 to delve into the latest developments and challenges in the field of AI-driven security. All CSE & AIML Faculty, faculty members from all other department attended the sessions. The esteemed speaker has discussed various use cases related to his domain. He has highlighted the problem areas where AI technologies can be applied.
Umesh R. an AI expert from Northeastern University USA visited Symbiosis Institute of Technology Pune on 1st February, 2024. Dr. Hodeghatta is a renowned researcher with many projects under his belt, including work with NASA. During his discussion with students of AI&ML and CSE, he focused on the fundamentals of machine learning and relevance of algorithmic bias while modelling ML framework.

Breaking the barriers with "Japan Study Tour" 2024
The team visited SIT on 11th January, 2024 . When it comes to Japan, students are often resistant going for higher studies. Internationalization Cell, SIT- Symbiosis Institute of Technology are thankful to Ms Kshipra Potdar, Managing Director, Softbridge Global Studies - Japan, and Ms Bhakti Padhye, Symbiosis Centre for International Education for clearing some myths and conceptions about studying in Japan. Hoping that students would take this opportunity to explore this wonderful nation- full of opportunities.
Visit of Delegates from University of Canterbury, New Zealand
A delegation from University of Canterbury, New Zealand visited Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Pune on 16th February, 2023 to discuss on avenues for academic collaboration (joint programs) at UG, PG and PhD level as well as research associations. The team comprised of Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research, Professor Ian Wright, Assistant Vice Chancellor, Engagement, Brett Berquist and Monique van Veen, Associate Director, International. University of Canterbury is ranked 11th in the world for its programs and courses related to sustainability. Apart from this they have courses in Drone Technology, artificial intelligence, Nano technology, forestry, aerospace, product design and renewable energy. Dr Arundhati Warke, Deputy Director-Academics gave a brief presentation of SIT and highlighted on internationalization activities being carried out. Both teams had a fruitful discussion on collaborative opportunities. All heads of departments along with Department Internationalization co-ordinators participated in the joint talks.
Visit of Delegate from La Trobe University, Australia
Prof. Hossam Aboel Naba, Head of Engineering, La Trobe University along with Mr. Amit Malhotra, Regional Director, South Asia and Africa, La Trobe University, Australia visited Symbiosis Institute of Technology Pune on 15th March 2023. A meeting was held with Prof Ketan Kotecha, the Dean of Engineering, and Prof Sayali Sandbhor, the Head of Civil Engineering Department, to explore the possibility of offering dual degree programs for Civil Engineering students with La Trobe University in Australia.It was exciting to discuss the potential benefits of such programs for the students. Dual degree programs can provide students with a more extensive understanding of their field and expose them to different academic environments and cultures.
Visit of Delegates from SEED Global Education
Students at SIT- Symbiosis Institute of Technology had great insights interacting one on one with representatives of six different US universities-Columbia Engineering, on 15th September 2023,NYU Tandon School of Engineering, Boston University, The George Washington University, Loyola Marymount University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute.Thanks to efforts of Sanjay Dhingra, COO SEED Global Education , Dr Ketan Kotecha for making it possible. We wish to take the efforts to higher heights. Visit of Delegates from NCHU University, Taiwan
The team from National Chung Hsing University visited Symbiosis Institute of Technology on 24th November 2023 to discuss academic and research collaborations. It was enriching to know the courses curated under the umbrella of Semiconductor and advanced packaging curriculum, which touches all branches of engineering. Guests were taken for a visit to relevant labs at SIT.
Visit of Delegates from Hochschulen in Berlin, Germany
Dr.Markus Schaal, Professor for Business Informatics, Software Engineering, and Database Systems, and Director of d-cube Berlin, conducted three-day sessions for students of AIML and CSE at SIT, Pune on 26th September, 2023. His insights were truly enlightening!

Hands-on sessions in creating websites with Linux, Docker, and Flask, and utilizing the ChatGPT-API. Empowering us with practical skills.
Visit by Dr Yogesh Bhalerao, University of East Anglia, UK on 17th January, 2023
Dr Yogesh Bhalerao, University of East Anglia, UK visited SIT on the 17th of January 2023. He is a Professor, Mechanical Engineering, at the School of Engineering, University of East Anglia, UK. His research interests are heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and numerical modelling. Dr. Bhalerao elaborated on the faculty of engineering at the University of East Anglia and extended support for collaborative activity in terms of student exchange, faculty exchange, and research co-supervision with Symbiosis Institute of Technology. He also expressed willingness for long-term research collaboration with Symbiosis International University. The visit concluded with a visit to Labs of the Mechanical and Robotics and Automation Department
Expert Lecture by Dr Saurabh Nair at E&TC Department conducted on 15th October 2022
Dr. Sohum Sohoni visited to Symbiosis Institute of Technology on 15th October 2022. He is Professor, Computer Science and Engineering, Milwaukee School of Engineering, USA. His research domain is Software Engineering. Interactive faculty session was carried out for CS and AIML faculty members. He focused on students’ assessment carried out at MSOE and discussed about outcomes also. Had good interaction among the faculties about modelling of Software Engineering and the research work. Faculties were very happy to listen to him and they mentioned it was valuable information added to the knowledge.

Dr Rajiv Gupte is Associate Dean for Planning, Finance, Faculty Affairs, School of Science and Professor, Computer & Information Science, IUPUI University, USA. He discussed about Data Science in healthcare, also focused on the research opportunities, and research areas with faculty members. All CS and AIML faculty members attended the session. Faculties were very happy to listen to him and they mentioned it was valuable information added to the knowledge.

Dr. Sandeep Gupta is Associate Dean for Research and Innovation in Fulton School of Engineering, Arizona University. During his visit to Symbiosis Institute of Technology, many faculties and students interacted with him. Faculty discussion session was purely on research work, many faculty discussed about their PhD work , research in the field of AI and Quantum computing carried out very nice. Total 30+ faculty attended the session. Student interaction was on “Real Time Applications of Artificial Intelligence”, 30+ students attended it. Students were very happy to listed to him and they mentioned it was valuable information added to the knowledge

Work: Applied scientist at Wayve AI, working on vision language models, and reinforcement learning for autonomous driving. Gave an exper session for students and faculty of E&TC.

Visit by Dr. Amelie Weigel on 7th October, 2022
Dr. Amelie Weigel ,Director, Alliance Francaise , Pune visited SIT on 7th October, 2022. Collaboration opportunities along with French companies, French language training opportunities, and internship opportunities in French Universities was discussed.
Expert Talk and Interaction with Dr John Di Tusa on 7th October 2022 (Department of Applied Science)
Dr. John DiTusa, Dean Purdue School of Sciences, IUPUI, Indianapolis gave an expert talk on “ Topological Spin Textures” on 7th October in Seminar Hall. The session was followed by interaction with students and faculty.
Distinguished International guests visiting SIT
Dr. Olivier Fudym, the Attache for Academic and Scientific Cooperation in the west of India visited Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT) , Pune on June 15, 2022. He was accompanied with Ms. Margo Girard, the National Coordinator of the Campus France network in India, Ms. Siddhi Padture, Campus France Manager for Pune and Goa and Ms. Amruta Datar, Deputy to the Attache. The delegate were welcomed by the Head of International Initiatives of SIT Dr Meena Laad. Deputy Director( Administration) Dr Nitin Khedkar gave a presentation on SIT to the delegates. Dr Olivier briefed about various research and academic collaboration opportunities between Symbiosis and French Universities. He also assured of extending support in connecting with Universities in France. Ms Datar and Ms Siddhi proposed to organise a seminar for dissemination of information on Higher education in France. The delegate also visited the labs and other infra structural facilities at SIT. Dr Ravi Shekhar, member of International Initiatives Team at SIT proposed the vote of thanks.
Dr Bala Vaidyanathan, Professor, School of Material Engineering, Loughborough University, UK was on campus on July 23, 2022. Dr Bala has been associated with SIT through research and other academic collaborations. One of our Ph.D scholars Ms Shalaka is at Loughborough University on Commonwealth fellowship. Dr Bala had a discussion on joint academic programmes with SIT and also collaborative research programmes. SIT already has MoU signed with LU and several collaborations are actively going on.
Dr Bhanu Sood, Chief Engineer NASA, Goddard Space Flight Centre visited SIT on Aug. 26, 2022. He has been closely associated with SIT since last several years. Dr Meena Laad, Head of International Initiatives organised his talk on NASA: Advancement in Space Technology for the students of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering of SIT. The talk was very well received by the students. Students were curious about the astronomical events and various successful missions of NASA in space. Dr Bhanu also interacted with research scholars of SIT and had an insightful discussion on their research interests.
Dr Jeremy Simpson, Associate Dean, International Studies and Dr Elini Mangina, Professor, Computer Science, University College Dublin, Ireland visited SIT on Aug. 27, 2022. Dr Meena Laad, Head, International Initiatives welcomed the guests and briefed them about SIT. There was a long discussion on various collaborative opportunities between SIT and UCD. The International cell organised the talk by Dr Elini Mangina for the students of Comp. Sc & AI-ML. Dr Elini discussed the applications of tools of AI in day to day life and shared her research work with the faculty of SIT. The MoU between the two is already in progress and the opportunities for organising joint technical events, student and faculty mobility were discussed.
