TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events to help share ideas in communities around the world.
The goal of the TED Foundation is to foster the spread of great ideas. It aims to provide a platform for thinkers, visionaries and teachers so that people around the globe can gain a better understanding of the biggest issues faced by the world, and feed a desire to help create a better future. Core to this goal is a belief that there is no greater force for changing the world than a powerful idea.
TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection at the local level. TEDx was created in the spirit of TED's mission, "ideas worth spreading." It supports independent organizers who want to create a TED-like event in their own community.
These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. TEDx events are planned and coordinated independently, under a free license granted by TED. TEDx events are non-profit but may use an admission fee or commercial sponsorship to cover costs.
TEDxSIULavale 2021 Countdown event is being curated by Symbiosis Institute of Technology, a constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed) University for the first time in association with TEDx, where x=independently organized TED event. This day-long marathon of “ideas worth spreading” marks the coming together of brilliant speakers and sets a tone to embark on a journey of attaining a sustainable environment. We aspire to make a synergic effort by setting up an influential platform along the lines of our theme: COUNTDOWN. The countdown is a bold, global movement to draw attention to rapidly changing climatic conditions and to find ways to shift to a world with net-zero greenhouse emissions and tackle the climate crisis. The audience will comprise representatives from communities, schools, universities, businesses, non-profit organizations, and city representative offices.
We are all familiar with the global emergency of climate change that transcends national boundaries. It is a matter that needs to be coordinated across the board. The global conversation is growing at an exponential rate, and the playing field is levelling TEDxSIULavale, committed to inviting speakers and intellectuals to present their blueprint for a beautiful net-zero future. TEDxSIULavale 2021 Countdown event will take place virtually for the first time on 27 November 2021, a step towards its sustainable aspirations to amplify and demonstrate climate solutions.
The focus of the discussion will be on "Climate Change and its impacts" which will cover up five subject areas ranging from Energy, Transport, Materials, Food, and Nature. It is our small effort towards making our planet a better place to live in and motivating as well as inspiring people via thought-provoking talks. The Speakers’ thoughts, imaginative ideas, and solutions can help us build a healthy society and transform the future and impact of climate change.
Symbiosis Institute of Technology, a constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed) University has always gone big with combating climate change: from raising awareness about the ongoing ecological catastrophes to making a stand to actively fight against the same by housing a wide array of clubs and events dedicated to contributing towards the amelioration of the environment. Symbiosis International (Deemed) University strives to encourage and shape young minds towards the overall welfare of society.
To intensify the optimistic hopes regarding climate change in the next generation, TEDxSIULavale is organized by an exclusive youthful team of undergraduates with the right charges overlooking them, and is committed to its mission of bringing forward “ideas worth sharing”.

Global climate change is a threat of the gravest magnitude that has become irrefutable in recent times. At the heart of TEDxSIULavale 2021 lies the theme COUNTDOWN, an initiative by TED to accelerate solutions to the ongoing climate crisis and progress towards preserving our planet.
The goal of the COUNTDOWN campaign is “To build a better future by cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030 in the race to a zero-carbon world – a world that is safer, cleaner, and fairer for everyone.”
TEDxSIULavale aims to contribute to this green-climate drive by hosting this TEDx Countdown event curated by the Symbiosis Institute of Technology. A more sustainable, prosperous world is in reach. Join us in taking action to claim it, starting now. #JointheCoundown #TEDxSIULavale
While we know our planet is facing a crisis, there’s still time to make amends. Our theme centered around the TED campaign, COUNTDOWN, helps in turning ideas of some of the greatest thinkers into a series of actions. Aimed at leaving a mark, these actions will enlighten young minds and stimulate society at the most basic level towards an optimistic tomorrow. Countdown sets a realistic pathway to answer five pivotal and fundamental questions to sketch a blueprint for a cleaner future. These questions cover the aspects of cleaner energy, upgraded transport, eco-friendly materials, healthier food systems and majorly focusing on “regreen-ing” the Earth.
The COUNTDOWN Campaign was launched in 2020 and is actively working ever since, to seek progress on the five fundamental questions and more. The latest addition to this noble motive was the Global COUNTDOWN Summit Livestream in October of 2021. This event saw leaders, excelling in their respective fields, come together and share a social moment while also creating unique blueprints for a beautiful “Net-zero Future”. It consisted of talks, case studies, and workshops causing a unified effort in breaking people from their silos and inspiring them to work towards a successful goal.
